- Frontier Conference scholarships are reserved for students who plan to enroll at one of the conference institutions listed below.
Available scholarships (annual)
- Ralph Halverson Scholarships — Two awards of $1,600 each for Montana graduating seniors.
- These scholarships honor Ralph Halverson, who served as Executive Director of the Montana Coaches Association for more than 40 years. The fund began through the generosity of Mark Reed, a former Great Falls High School track and field standout who considered Halverson a mentor. In August 2012, during a surprise visit to his old coach at the MCA Clinic, Reed donated $3,000 to establish a scholarship in Halverson’s name and committed an additional $7,000 to be given over the following seven years. Reed’s remarkable high school accomplishments at the 1983 State Track Meet included a 7'2" high jump, a 23'2" long jump, and a 47'1-1/2" triple jump — wins in all three events. Coach Halverson, who passed away in May 2013, was deeply moved by Reed’s support and by sharing memories of Reed’s athletic career. To date, Reed has contributed slightly more than $26,000 to the fund, and many MCA members and friends of Ralph have added about $34,000 more — a meaningful legacy in his honor.
- Frontier Conference Scholarships — Two awards of $1,500 each for athletes chosen under MCA Scholarship criteria who will attend a Frontier Conference school. Eligible institutions include:
Arizona Christian University (FB only), Bellevue University, Bismarck State College, Carroll College, College of Idaho (FB only), Dakota State University, Dickinson State University, Eastern Oregon University (FB only), Mayville State University, Montana State University–Northern, Montana Technological University, University of Montana Western, Rocky Mountain College, Simson College (FB only), Southern Oregon University (FB only), University of Providence, Valley City State University.
- Montana Coaches Association Scholarships — Four awards of $1,000 each, distributed to athletes selected according to MCA Scholarship criteria. The MCA takes pride in providing this financial support to Montana student-athletes.
If you are a graduating senior athlete interested in any of these awards, submit the single MCA scholarship application and indicate your school plans where required so you can be considered for the Frontier Conference awards if applicable.
