Announcement — 2026 Joyce and Tom Scanlan Scholarship (Minnesota)
We are excited to open applications for the 2026 Joyce and Tom Scanlan Scholarship for students based in Minnesota. Eligible applicants must submit their materials by the April deadline. In addition to a cash award, scholarship recipients will be invited, at no cost to them, to attend the National Federation of the Blind’s National Convention in Austin, Texas, taking place July 3–8, 2026.
What the award includes
- Two scholarships will be granted, each in the amount of $3,000.
- Each winner will be sponsored to attend the National Federation of the Blind Annual Convention, July 3–8, 2026, in Austin, Texas, providing a chance to meet blind students from across the country and learn strategies for success.
- Recipients are also required to attend the National Federation of the Blind of Minnesota state convention in the fall (date and location to be announced); travel and convention expenses for this event will also be covered.
- Scholarship checks will be presented at the banquet during the state convention.
Who may apply Applicants must be legally blind and enrolled in a post-secondary institution in Minnesota, either full-time or part-time.
