Madison Award for Academic Excellence
Scholarship Sponsored by James Madison University
The Madison Awards for Academic Excellence are merit-based recognitions that honor a wide range of achievements and potential. The responsibility of selecting recipients, who have shown academic success in a specific field of study and potential contribution to the university, lies with the academic colleges and departments.
The award covers 75% of the in-state tuition and comprehensive fees for the year the student enters JMU.
How to Apply
Students' applications for admission to JMU will be automatically considered for the Madison Awards for Academic Excellence, eliminating the need for a separate application. However, students are advised to visit the Madison Scholarships Hub and fill out the General Application to be eligible for other scholarship opportunities.
Following an admission offer, scholarship awardees will be informed during the financial aid award notification process. Those who are not awarded a scholarship will not receive a notification.
Eligibility Maintenance
To remain eligible for the award, students must maintain a cumulative JMU grade point average of 3.0 by the end of each academic year. Some scholarships may have additional requirements, which will be explicitly mentioned in the financial aid offer.
