Overview
The Minnesota Subcontractors Association (MSA), together with The Builders Group (TBG), will provide three scholarships of $3,000 each to eligible students. Separately, MSA and Kraus-Anderson Insurance will present one $5,000 Patrick Kennedy Scholarship.
Who is eligible
- Enrollment status: Applicants must be a freshman, sophomore, or junior for the upcoming fall semester. Students classified as seniors may be considered only if they are enrolled beyond the typical four-year undergraduate timeframe.
- Field of study / relationship to MSA member: Applicants must meet one of the following:
- Be a current student pursuing a construction-related field; or
- Be enrolled in a construction or building trade program and be a dependent of an owner or employee of a company that is an MSA member.
Scholarship-specific qualification
- For three $3,000 awards: Candidates should be enrolled in, or entering, a hands-on construction craft or trade that places them in the field (examples: plumbing, masonry, carpentry, electrical, etc.).
- For the $3,000 and the $5,000 Patrick Kennedy Scholarship: Candidates may be enrolled in, or entering, either a field trade/craft (as above) or a construction/building-related major that prepares them for office-based roles (examples: project management, construction management, etc.).
Academic requirement
- Minimum cumulative GPA of 2.5.
Application instructions and documentation
- Every application form field must be completed. Applicants must attach or email their transcript and resume with the submission. Applications that have any missing information or lack the required attachments will be automatically disqualified.
