Introduction / History
In 1999, Advanced American Construction established the Schweiger Memorial Scholarship Fund following the untimely deaths of Forrest and Konrad Schweiger. Advanced American Construction is a full-service general contractor that delivers heavy civil, marine, industrial, diving, and engineering services to public and private clients throughout the western United States.
Purpose and Award Information
The Schweiger Memorial Scholarship Fund supports the educational and career advancement of exemplary college undergraduates, trade school/apprenticeship students, and military veterans pursuing careers in the construction industry. Awards have been made up to $15,000, and recipients may be considered for the scholarship in subsequent years so long as they continue to meet the program’s eligibility requirements.
Scholarship Categories and Eligibility
- THE SMSF APPRENTICESHIP SCHOLARSHIP: Available to high school seniors and those training for construction careers through apprenticeships or trade schools. This apprenticeship award is not available to individuals who already hold Journeyman status.
- THE SMSF UNDERGRADUATE SCHOLARSHIP: Open to high school seniors and college students who have at least one full academic year remaining in an undergraduate program. This undergraduate scholarship is not available to applicants who are enrolled in, or planning to enroll in, graduate or master’s degree programs.
