Overview
The Kentucky Nurses Foundation (KNF) offers several scholarships to support nursing students and nurses advancing their education in Kentucky. Below are the available awards, their amounts, and eligibility requirements.
Eligibility (general)
- Must be enrolled in an accredited School of Nursing in Kentucky.
- Eligible pre-licensure students must be enrolled in an ADN or BSN program (pre-nursing applicants are not eligible).
- Applicants must hold the appropriate Kentucky Nurses Association (KNA) membership—KNA student member for student applicants or KNA member for licensed nurses, as applicable.
Available Scholarships
1) Mildred Metz Scholarship — $2,000
Awarded to a pre-licensure student (ADN or BSN) enrolled in an accredited Kentucky School of Nursing. Pre-nursing students are not eligible. Applicants must be KNA student members. This scholarship honors the memory of Mildred Metz, longtime director of the Norton Memorial Infirmary School of Nursing.
2) Nursing Excellence Scholarship — $2,000
Offered to a pre-licensure student (ADN or BSN) enrolled in an accredited Kentucky School of Nursing. Pre-nursing students are not eligible. Applicants must be KNA student members. This award recognizes and honors all Kentucky nurses.
3) Rural Nursing Scholarship — $1,500 to $10,000 (amount based on funds raised)
Available to either a pre-licensure student (ADN or BSN) or a licensed nurse who is pursuing further education and is enrolled in an accredited Kentucky School of Nursing. Pre-nursing applicants are not eligible. Applicants must be KNA student members or KNA members, as appropriate. This scholarship provides financial assistance to students and nurses who are or will be practicing in rural areas of the Commonwealth. Award size ranges from $1,500 up to $10,000, depending on donations and other KNF fundraising.
