Babe Ruth League Scholarships
Scholarship Sponsored by Babe Ruth League Inc.
Overview
Established in 2001 to help families facing rising college expenses, the Babe Ruth League College Scholarship provides financial support to former participants of Cal Ripken Baseball, Babe Ruth Baseball, and Babe Ruth Softball who are pursuing education beyond high school.
Funding
Scholarship awards are financed through proceeds from the annual Babe Ruth League Alumni Golf Outing and contributions from league partners K&K Insurance and Rawlings Sporting Goods.
Eligibility
To be considered, applicants must meet all of the following:
- Have played in Cal Ripken Baseball, Babe Ruth Baseball, or Babe Ruth Softball at any time between the ages of 4 and 18.
- Be a U.S. citizen or a U.S. permanent resident.
- Be a high school senior or a currently enrolled college student at the time the application is submitted.
- Be enrolled at an accredited two-year or four-year college or university.
Application materials and deadline
Applications must be sent to Babe Ruth League and include:
- A completed scholarship application form,
- An official high school transcript,
- A 200-word essay,
- Verification of registration at an accredited two-year or four-year college or university.
All materials must be received by June 30 each year. If proof of college enrollment is not available when you submit your application and you are chosen for an award, enrollment verification will be required before funds are released. Acceptable forms of verification include a tuition bill or a semester schedule.
Selection, award limits and restrictions
Recipients are selected based on high school academic performance, extracurricular participation, community service, and the content of the essay. The Babe Ruth League College Scholarship is a single, one-time award and may not be combined with any other scholarship sponsored by Babe Ruth League. Receiving this scholarship does not depend on participation in collegiate athletics.
Ineligible applicants
Employees of Babe Ruth League and their immediate family members are not eligible for any scholarship funded by the organization.
