KWIA College Scholarship
Scholarship Sponsored by Kentucky Women in Agriculture
Introduction As part of its mission to support and advance women in agriculture through education, participation and action, Kentucky Women in Agriculture (KWIA) provides a scholarship for women who are enrolled full time and are entering their junior year through graduate-level study. Applicants must be pursuing a degree connected to agriculture, demonstrate financial need, and maintain full-time student status. Eligibility - Be a female who resides in Kentucky. - Be entering at least the junior year of undergraduate study or be in a graduate program at a Kentucky college or an affiliated veterinary school. - Hold a cumulative GPA of 2.5 or higher (submit current college transcript). Application requirements - A brief personal statement (500 words or fewer) describing career goals in agriculture and explaining how this scholarship will help achieve those objectives. - Evidence of financial need. - At least two (2) letters of recommendation that address the applicant’s fit with the eligibility criteria. - Prior to disbursement of funds, the selected recipient must provide a tuition invoice and the upcoming semester’s class schedule to confirm enrollment. Award details and disbursement - The scholarship amount is $1,000, distributed in two equal payments of $500, one each semester. - Recipients will be informed in writing by July 30, 2026. Selection process and privacy - Applications will be scored using the following rubric: desire to work in agriculture — 40 points; financial need — 30 points; academic record — 20 points; extracurricular activities — 10 points. - Personal information submitted with applications will be kept confidential. The recipient’s name will be published on the KWIA website by July 30, 2026. Additional conditions - The scholarship recipient will be asked to provide a photograph and sign a release permitting its use in KWIA publications. - The recipient will also be invited to attend the KWIA annual meeting to receive recognition.
