AGC of Minnesota Scholarships

Scholarship Sponsored by Associated General Contractors of Minnesota

Value: $2,500.00
Awards Available: 12

AGC of Minnesota continues a long-standing tradition of supporting students who are preparing for careers in the construction industry through scholarship awards. AGC Foundation Scholarships are available to students who are actively enrolled in an accredited post-secondary program in a construction-related discipline. In addition to those foundation awards, AGC of Minnesota also presents three named legacy scholarships each year.

Eligibility
- Applicants must be currently enrolled in an accredited post-secondary institution in a construction field (for AGC Foundation Scholarships and the legacy awards where specified).
- Each named scholarship has its own focus and eligibility emphasis (see descriptions below).

Annual Legacy Scholarships

1) Charles S. McCrossan Scholarship
- Intended for a Minnesota resident pursuing a construction-related career, with preference for candidates concentrating on civil engineering and/or road and bridge construction management.
- The award honors Charles S. McCrossan, who started a Minnesota-based highway/heavy civil company in 1956 that expanded over more than five decades into a diversified general contracting firm still owned and operated by the McCrossan family. Charles S. McCrossan passed away in 2017 and left a lasting legacy of industry leadership and philanthropy.

2) Kraus-Anderson Insurance Scholarship
- Established to commemorate Dennis Diessner’s contributions; Diessner was a longtime Kraus-Anderson insurance executive and dedicated volunteer with the AGC of Minnesota Foundation.
- This scholarship is given to an outstanding student pursuing a professional degree in commercial construction at an accredited post-secondary school.

3) Kraft Construction Scholarship (new for 2025)
- Introduced in 2025 to recognize the Kraft family’s multigenerational impact on Minnesota’s construction industry.
- Background: Martin E. Kraft took an entrepreneurial leap in the 1940s, acquiring equipment and undertaking projects in Minneapolis that grew into an excavating, grading, and road-building enterprise. His wife Eunice managed business operations—payroll, payables and invoicing—from their South Minneapolis home while raising six children. Arnold R. (Arnie) Kraft learned the trade working alongside his father on a wide range of local construction projects, later starting his own contracting business with his wife Jane and serving actively in AGC of Minnesota governance and committees. In later years Arnie and Jane focused on a safety-training business; Arnie is a Certified Safety Professional and an instructor approved by MSHA and OSHA.

Deadlines, Notification, and Award Presentation
- Completed applications and all supporting documents must be submitted by Friday, May 16, 2025.
- Scholarship recipients will be informed by June 20, 2025.
- Awardees are expected to attend the AGC annual Golf Tournament on Friday, August 1, 2025, at Keller Golf Course, where they will be recognized and receive their scholarships.
