This scholarship supports the college education (undergraduate or graduate) of first-generation young women, under age 25, who trace their heritage to Portugal, Mexico, Central America, or South America and who live in Nevada or Hawaii. For the purposes of this award, “first-generation” means either (a) a young woman who immigrated to the United States and has become a naturalized citizen, or (b) the daughter of an immigrant from the listed ancestries. Eligible Nevada applicants are generally those residing in northern Nevada (commonly defined as Tonopah and points north); Hawaii residents statewide are eligible.
